“Once Upon a Time in Iran” (locally named “Khatoon” is a historical and romance blockbuster series produced by Ali Asadzadeh in 2021, directed by Tina Pakravan. Negar Javaherian, Ashkan Khatibi, and Babak Hamidiyan are featured along with the Russian cast for the series with special appearances by Mehran Modiri and more.
Khatoon, tells a story of the second world war and the situation that was going on in Iran, focusing on an Iranian Army family living in the North part of Iran whose lives have drastically changed during the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran in 1941. A4 has focused on historical photographs when creating the series' general visual identity, along with the ongoing creative direction of digital and print content, including social media, billboards, posters, and advertisements. The major idea was to visually reenact Iran in the past, particularly during the Second World War.
The graphic elements for the signage in the series scenes and stages were also designed with a peek at historical documentation, with a concentration on handwriting, which was used for the series title and cast.
